How to fix a pearl necklace?
We offer complete pearl restringing service if your silk cord is fraying and loose between each pearl. It is best to re-knot the entire strand and ensure the integrity of the necklace. If your necklace is broken close to the clasp and the rest of the pearl knots look like they are in good condition, then it might be sufficient to only fix the section that needs repair. This is a cost saving measure, or it could be done as a temporary fix.
REPAIR TESTIMONIAL:
I brought in a whole giant mess of chains for Karenna to untangle. I didn’t even know if she would take a repair so silly, but after spending hours of trying to untangle them myself and asking my father to help me, I decided that I needed to at least ask her. She told me she was happy to help and that she didn’t mind because should found it relaxing to do. HAHA! Well, I was thrilled. Two days later she called me to let me know that they were ready to pick up. She had even individually bagged each one and showed me how to zip part of the necklace into the bag closure so that they wouldn’t get tangled on itself either. I wish I had just saved myself the trouble from the beginning. -Judy S from Belmont, MA

How do you repair earrings and earring posts?
If you need to repair earrings with new ear wires, ball posts or clip tops, this work can be done while you wait. If you need to repair earring posts, they take a bit longer as they will need to be dropped off so that they can be soldered or laser welded. Bring the earrings into our store in Belmont, MA so that we can take a look and let you know the cost.
How do you resize a ring?
If you need to resize a ring larger, it might be possible to stretch it with either a ring stretching tool or a hammer. To make a ring smaller, the band will have to be cut open, a small piece removed and then it would need to be soldered back together. We can also use a ring guard as a temporary fix or to keep a top-heavy ring from tipping from side to side. Cost and timeline will depend on several factors such as metal type, style of the shank, how much metal is added, how thick the ring shank is, and if the ring has stones.
Do you only work on jewelry or can you fix other items as well?
